About US
Connection Works was founded out of a genuine concern for the well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally diverse communities, and minority groups in our country.
THE CONNECTION WORKS STORY
connection is at the core of what it means to be human
After years of working closely with these communities, it has become evident that our current western framework falls short in meeting their fundamental needs, especially the need for connection
With this perspective in mind, it becomes clear that our current approach to addressing mental health crises and suicide rates in Australia is flawed and ineffective. Connection Works is dedicated to progress, actively challenging the status quo, and embracing a dynamic and adaptable approach to addressing mental health and suicide concerns within vulnerable communities.
Director Eli Toombs, Kamilaroi man, and former National Trainer for Living Works iASSIST has walked a path of deep healing. This journey has taught him how connection is at the core of what it means to be human and when we don’t have connection, we can fall victim to the beast that we call suicide. Connection Works exists to address suicide rates in Indigenous communities through emphasising the importance of connection and weaving that into culturally safe Indigenous designed, owned and led educational programs.
